Whether it’s engaging with the voices in your head, or hearing the melodic voices of two improvised musicians outside of your head, this double-bill asks “What’s in a community?” as they look at the different ways the contributors to a community, both internal and external, can greatly shape and influence any outcome.
Featuring:
Strangers In-Sync (Singapore)
Through repurposing Whose Line Is It Anyway-style games into a larger story mechanic, Strangers In-Sync (SIS) takes an exaggerated and surreal look into the psyche of their characters through the exploration of how the individual’s inner world may influence their behaviour within their community and how an individual’s inner world can be shaped by community. As one of Singapore's most active improv troupes, SIS loves to create spaces for people to join in their celebration of improv and create authentic connections on stage.
A II Z (Philippines)
A II Z makes songwriting a communal endeavour as they heavily involve the audience in their collaborative performance process. Presenting it as a concert set, join performers Aryn Cristobal and Zsaris Mendioro as they engage, entertain, and enthral with their catchy ditties and quick-witted banter. Formed in 2019, A II Z is a musical improv band composed of two live-loopers who take audience suggestions and turn them into lyrics of improvised songs.
