5. possibilities

  • The Theatre Practice 54 Waterloo Street Singapore, 187953 Singapore (map)

A trio, all alone in a space. A group of Asian gay men, finding their place. Tied together by the possibilities of what could happen in the immediate, near and (possibly) far future, join both sets of performers as they explore the unknown and figure out what it means to be part of a larger community.

Featuring:

No-Show (International)

Three people show up to an event to discover they're the only three who've shown up. Based on a suggestion of an “event you’d like to attend” Kim Thanh Lê (The Rotten Grapes), Vân Trần (Saigon Improv House), and Matt Folliott (The Second City) will create three distinct characters who’ve arrived at the suggested event to discover everyone else is a NO-SHOW. The trio are dedicated to creating artistically unique and hilarious improv shows.

The Aunties 阿姨 (International)

At some point in their 30s or 40s, gay middle-aged men develop into The 阿姨 or Tita or Auntie. They are always armed with unsolicited advice, ready to dish out at a moment's notice. With their decades of improv experience, join our middle-aged aunties as they attempt to bring cheer and joy to the audience as they celebrate what it means to be queer and live their best lives in their prime, as well as their lived experiences as gay individuals, focusing on the commonality they find in their trauma and joy. The show will be performed in Mandarin, English, and Tagalog (with a smattering of other dialects).
