8. “Present to Adventure: a Festival Experience” - by Hazel Ho & Kim Tan (TIC) (Singapore)

  • Stamford Arts Centre Music Room (#01-06) 155 Waterloo Street Singapore, 188971 Singapore (map)

Synopsis:

Come learn about or be reminded of the improvisational mindset, and then take that wonderfully open mindset offstage and into real-world explorations.

By taking improv off the stage and into our hearts and minds, we’ll get in touch with our authentic selves, use all our senses amid a few guided prompts to possibly shift our perspectives, and engage with the festival and its surroundings in a wholly different way.

More reflective, meditative facilitated adventure than teacher-led workshop, this experience will be individual yet communal, will open you up yet also be grounding, and we hope you’ll join us for it.

Important information:

This is a more participant-driven experience rather than a teacher-led workshop.

About the Teachers - Hazel Ho & Kim Tan (Singapore)

Hazel Ho graduated from the National University of Singapore with a B.A. in Theatre Studies, and was a co-founder and Producer at The Improv Company for 7 years, devoting her energies to the creation of a thriving, sustainable improv community in Singapore. She once had to improvise live on Channel News Asia and prefers not to remember it.

Kim Tan is the co-founder and Artistic Director of The Improv Company, and has been improvising for more than a decade. In that time, he has trained in the US, the UK and Australia under some of the most experienced and venerated instructors still alive. Kim has performed around the world, while also leading the charge to create a community around improv in Singapore, teaching the art form to thousands of people here.
